CodeBrave at Tahaddi in Beirut

CodeBrave at Tahaddi in Beirut

I had been trying to introduce coding for years and the best I could do was start a coding club because there were no teaching resources. Now with CodeBrave, there are so many new things to teach. I started shadowing a CodeBrave teacher in class in the first academic year. Then, came the CodeBrave-Powered Schools programme. The teacher training was a great experience, a very beneficial one!

Many of our students start learning at age 11 and by then, children would have already built the bases of cognitive skills. Coding helps them catch up! It allows direct application of these skills while having fun and teaches them how to interact with the basic tech we use daily. Through tech education, our youth start on a new path to achieve social mobility and become more employable and entrepreneurial.

Tahaddi Beirut

What began as a single STEM hackathon in 2022 has evolved into an ongoing tech education project at Tahaddi (“challenge” in Arabic), a non-formal education centre in Beirut.

After over a year of CodeBrave teachers leading coding classes, Tahaddi’s computer teacher began shadowing our team and subsequently completed our 30-hour teacher training programme in the summer of 2023. Since then, he has been independently delivering coding, robotics, and AI classes to more than 60 students using CodeBrave’s curriculum.

Tahaddi is a non-governmental organisation that provides quality education for children and youths from vulnerable communities. They offer them the skills, knowledge, and values they need to build a better future for themselves and their communities. They focus on providing a holistic education that addresses their needs.

This project was made possible thanks to the generous funding from the British and Foreign School Society.
