The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives upskills 3 schools with CodeBrave

When my students found out they would be learning coding, their eyes lit up.

As a teacher, this training completely changed the way I think. The skills I gained will help me teach all my classes differently and more effectively.

This training has opened a new path for our school, and I’m thrilled that coding is being introduced in public schools. We’re giving students, who could only learn in under-resourced centres and universities in Lebanon, the opportunity to become as tech-savvy as their peers in private institutions. They can now build skills they wouldn’t have been able to afford to learn otherwise. Coding will not only help them discover new things about themselves but could also open doors to future career opportunities.

From October to December 2024, six teachers from three public schools in Chouf and Bekaa completed our 30-hour teacher training programme. Originally planned as in-person sessions, the training continued online due to the war in Lebanon.

By February 2025, the trained teachers began independently delivering coding, robotics, and AI classes to 413 public school students using CodeBrave’s curriculum. These students are the first in their schools to gain access to tech education, opening doors to new opportunities. Meanwhile, the teachers will continue to pass on these essential skills to even more students in the years ahead, ensuring long-term impact.

With thanks to the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives in Lebanon for funding this project.
