Tahaddi All Girls event at BDD
29 girls from Tahaddi, a non formal education centre in Beirut, learn to code for the first time
In June 2022, Mira*, a 14-year-old girl from Hay al-Gharbeh, used a computer for the first time. But she didn’t just open Word… She set off on an adventure to save kittens in a magical Internet Universe using code alongside 28 other girls from Tahaddi non formal education centre.
The girls discovered and learned the basics of coding for the first time during an awareness-raising session at the Beirut Digital District. In collaboration with Erase All Kittens and Forward MENA, the students learned important coding and programming skills to help them build their future. They also attended a career guidance session which helped them understand the potential career opportunities that are available in the field of coding and programming.
